Microsoft Newsletter

Designed for Tenth Grade Students and Their Parents

The second module of the semester dealt with creating a newsletter. We were given the choice of directing the newsletter for parent's view or student's view. The only part we did not have a choice in was what program to use. While Microsoft Publisher is VERY easy to use, Microsoft Word has tons of options and is also found on most bundles from Microsoft. I enjoyed learning how to format my own projects and not just allow Microsoft to design for me while I just typed in the details.

While we were given the option of writing the newsletter for students or parents, I chose a combination. This newsletter is for a high school biology class: tenth grade. I believe that in high school, students should begin taking ownership of their schooling. The newsletter is a great chance for parents to learn what is going on in the classroom at their convenience. But it is also a great chance for students to feel like they, too have a place in the communication. As a teacher I want us (parents, students, me) to work as a team. The student should not be left out of any communication.
